Bobtail cat is very lovely and cute cat. Most of people liked a Bobtail cat breed because this cat has short hair. Bobtail cat is commonly found in America. It is domestic cat and which was developed in late 1960.
It is most notable for its stubby bobbed tail and its length about one third to one half length of a normal cat tail. This is the result of a cat body type of genetic affecting the tail development same like that of Manx cat. Japanese bobtail cat are different from common bobtail cat but both has the same name and same types.
Breeding programs of Japanese bobtail and American bobtail is different because the genetic mutation causing the bobbed tail because the from mutation causing the American bobtail cat is dominant and Japanese bobtail cat mutation is recessive.
American bobtail cat is very sturdy cat breed with both short hair and long haired coat. They can have many colours of eyes and coat. Mostly light green and blue eyes of bobtail cats are found.
History:
Some people consider that the bobtail cat are the result of the cross breeding of domestic tabby cat and wild bobcat. Actually the little tail of bobtail cat is the result of a random spontaneous genetic mutation with in the domestic cat population that is related to Manx cat.
The bobtail cat breed has modified by the cross breeding to form a new and improved the strain which comes to different colours and coat types.
In the Germany based world cat federation this breed is recognized as the American bobtail long hair and American bobtail short hair but is accepted for the competition.
Appearance:
American bobtail cat has hearty and short tailed cat. Its body is moderately long and rectangular. This cat has chest has full and broad. The hips are substantial and have a wide chest and it has the back legs longer than the forelegs with large round feet.
There is concave curve from nose to brow and gently slop wide nose and full strong jaws. Bobtail cat has the medium size ear mounted top and side of head with rounded tips. The eyes are almond shape.
Behavior:
American bobtail cat has a social , playful and energetic. This breed has very clever and active.
They reportedly have enough clever ingenuity to escape from rooms with closed doors and from secured cages. Being social with their owners and caretakers, they will ask for the attention they want by meowing or just by hopping into laps.
